Titans “Leaning Against” Picking Up G Chance Warmack’s Fifth-Year Option

Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com writes that the Titans appear to be “leaning against” picking up G Chance Warmack‘s fifth-year option.

The fifth-year option will run the Titans $11.9 million in 2017, but is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.

It’s possible that the Titans could instead focus on trying to get a long-term contract in place with Warmack that would come with a much more reasonable salary.

Warmack, 24, was taken with the No. 10 overall pick by the Titans back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $12.166 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $675,000 in 2016.

Last year, Warmack appeared in 14 games for the Titans and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 40 guard out of 81 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding the Titans and Warmack as the news is available.
