Titans Make No Progress With CB Cortland Finnegan

Titans

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that the Titans met with CB Cortland Finnegan‘s representation today but adds that there was no progress made towards a contract extension.

I can’t say that this is all too surprising considering that Titans have shown very little interest in meeting his contract demands. There’s always the chance that they could use their franchise tag on him in the coming weeks but that will run the team $10.6 million for the 2012 season.

There will be no shortage of suitors for him on the open market and he’ll most likely land a pretty sizable contract from someone.

Lions

The Detroit Free Press writes that the Lions are “unlikely” to be the ones that sign Cortland Finnegan.

There cap issues and the fact that they have some key free agents to address, leaves them in a very difficult position to sign one of this year’s biggest free agents. Finnegan played under Jim Schwartz a few years ago so there’s an obvious connection between the two but a deal appears to be a long shot at this point.

The Vikings and Rams have been suggested as possible destinations for him if he becomes available.
