Free Agent WR Eric Decker Leaves Titans Visit Without Deal

Update:

According to Jason Wolf of the Tennessean, free agent WR Eric Decker left his visit with the Titans without a contract on Wednesday.

Regarding the meeting, Titans HC Mike Mularkey said it was just a chance to meet him and have him take a physical.

We brought him in and I talked to him this morning for about 25 minutes and got a chance to meet him. I never met him,” Mularkey said. “Similar to our draft, when you do the top 30 visits. Similar situation. Get a chance to meet him and do a physical.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirms a report from fhnixon that free agent WR Eric Decker is meeting with the Titans on Wednesday.

  • According to Schefter, the Titans are an appealing option to Decker’s family.

This is the first reported interest in Decker since he officially became available on Tuesday.

The Titans currently have Rishard Matthews and Corey Davis projected to be their top-two receivers to go along with Harry Douglas, Tajae Sharpe, and Tre McBride, so the addition of Decker could be a big boost for this unit and Tennessee’s offense.

Decker, 29, is a former third-round pick of the Broncos back in 2010. He spent four years in Denver before signing a five-year, $36.25 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Jets as a free agent back in 2014.

Decker was set to make base salaries of $7.25 million and $7.5 million over the remaining two years of the agreement when the Jets officially released him on Tuesday.

In 2016, Decker was limited to appearing in just three games and catching nine passes for 194 yards receiving and two touchdowns before he was placed on season-ending injured reserve with both hip and shoulder injuries.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
