Titans Met With Chris Johnson’s Agent Tuesday, Talks Still At A “Stand Still”

Chris Johnson announced via his Twitter account that his agent met with the Titans front office on Tuesday, but things are still at a “stand still.”

My agent and titans front office had a talk yesterday and everything is still at a stand still so it’s a waiting game while I continue to grind,” Johnson writes.

There have been rumors circulating for several months now that Johnson could be on the chopping block. As things stand right now, Tennessee should have close to $13 million in cap space to work with this offseason.

Johnson, 28, still has three years remaining on his six-year, $55.26 million contract. The Titans could save $4 million in cap space if they were to release him outright, according to OverTheCap.com. However, Tennessee could boost that figure to $8 million by designating him as a post-June 1 cut.

Johnson opted to play out the season, despite the fact that he suffered a meniscus tear back in Week 3. He managed to go over the 1,000-yard-mark for the sixth consecutive season and contributed 10 total touchdowns in 2013.

We’ll have more regarding Johnson’s status with the Titans as the news is available.

        • Yeah, I watched him not miss a game since he’s been in the league, watched him gain 1000 yards each year, and never heard of any off field or locker-room issues…guess I’m educated.
