Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Titans DT Jurrell Casey, met with the team Tuesday to discuss a contract extension for his client.
- According to Wyatt, the fact that Rosenhaus traveled to Tennessee appears to be a positive sign regarding the current state of the ongoing negotiations.
The Titans have said publicly that they would like to lock up Casey long-term, so we’ll have to see if any real progress is made in the coming days.
Casey, 24, is entering the final year of his four-year, $2.732 million contract and will make a base salary of just $670,000 for the 2014 season.
He’s coming off of a season in which he was a second-team All-Pro selection. Last year, he totaled 54 tackles, 10.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery for the Titans defense over the course of 15 games.
Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 4 defensive tackle in the league, mainly due to his ability to apply pressure up the middle.
