Titans OLB Kamerion Wimbley Announces His Retirement From NFL

Titans OLB Kamerion Wimbley announced that he is retiring from the NFL on Thursday.

Titans GM Ruston Webster released a statement regarding Wimbley ‘s retirement:

We want to congratulate Kamerion on a his NFL career. He is a true pro and a fantastic person. Not everyone gets to walk away from the game on their own terms and he is doing that today and for that he has my respect. I know he has a number of business ventures already and we wish him and his family the best in what lies ahead.”

Wimbley, 31, had two years remaining on his three-year, $9 million contract and would have made base salaries of $1.85 million (2015) and $2.35 million (2016) over the remainder of the contract.

There was talk that Wimbley could be a cap casualty after the Titans re-signed Derrick Morgan and signed Brian Orakpo in free agency, so this may have been a consideration for him.

Over the course of his nine-year NFL career, Wimbley recorded 322 tackles, 53.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, four recoveries, and two interceptions.
