Titans Place Rookie OLB Kevin Dodd On Injured Reserve, Promote LB Justin Staples

Titans HC Mike Mularkey announced Monday that they’re placing rookie OLB Kevin Dodd on injured reserve and promoting LB Justin Staples to their active roster.

Mularkey admitted that Dodd may require another procedure on his foot injury after he previously suffered a broken fifth metatarsal.

Dodd, 22, was taken with the No. 32 overall pick by the Titans back in May. He signed a four-year, $6.55 million contract that included $4.31 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $450,000 and $747,832 over the next two years.

In 2016, Dodd appeared in nine games for the Titans and recorded five tackles and one sack.

Staples, 26, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois back in 2013. He spent just over a year in Cleveland before he was cut loose and later signed to the Titans’ practice squad at the start of he 2014 season.

Since then, he’s been on and off of the Titans’ practice squad.

In 2015, Staples appeared in 12 games for the Titans and recorded five tackles and two pass defenses.
