Titans Sign Veteran QB Brandon Weeden, Waive LB Josh Carraway

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Titans are planning to sign veteran QB Brandon Weeden to a contract on Tuesday.

  • The Titans have already announced the move along with the release of LB Josh Carraway.

This comes just a few days after Marcus Mariota was forced to leave Week 4’s game with a hamstring injury.

On Monday, Titans HC Mike Mularkey said it was possible they could bring in a quarterback this week, depending on Mariota’s injury, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Weeden, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2012. He spent two years in Cleveland before he was cut in March of 2014 and later signed by the Cowboys. Dallas elected to waive Weeden mid-season, but he was later claimed off of waivers by the Texans.

Weeden was entering the final year of a two-year, $4 million contract when the Texans cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

In 2015, Weeden threw for 1,044 yards while completing 69.3 percent of his passes to go along with five touchdowns and two interceptions over the course of six games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 quarterback out of 35 qualifying players.
