Titans Promote DL Antwaun Woods, Sign Two To Practice Squad

The Tennessee Titans announced Wednesday that they’ve promoted NT Antwaun Woods to their active roster and placed DE Mehdi Abdesmad on injured reserve.

  • The Titans also signed LB Kourtnei Brown and WR K.J. Maye to their practice squad.

Woods, 23, wound up signing on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of USC back in May. He was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason but was later signed to the Titans’ practice squad a few days later.

Tennessee cut Woods loose back in September only to add him to their practice squad a week later.

During his college career at USC, Woods recorded 111 tackles, 13.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and two pass defenses.

Brown, 27, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson back in 2012. Since then, Brown has played for a number of teams including the Redskins, Bills, Lions, Rams and Texans.

He was one of the more popular players during this year’s Hard Knocks but wound up being among the Texans’ final roster cuts. The Buccaneers claimed Brown off of waivers multiple times last year but wound up being among the Buccaneers’ roster cuts coming out of the preseason, but he returned to the Texans a few weeks later.

Since then, Brown had another brief stint with the Buccaneers.

In 2015, Brown appeared in five games and recorded two tackles.
