Titans Promote TEs Coach Arthur Smith To Offensive Coordinator

The Tennessee Titans announced Monday that they’ve promoted TEs coach Arthur Smith to offensive coordinator, replacing Matt LaFleur.

“I am excited for Arthur and for our team to be able to elevate a deserving coach,” said Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. “I was impressed throughout the season in gameplan meetings with his ideas, in-game with his understanding of situations and the ability to get the most out of his position group. We spent a good bit of time last week talking about this opportunity. He has a great deal of familiarity with our players and the continuity of the offense will allow our players to continue to develop and improve.”

Recent reports mentioned that Smith was someone to watch for the Titans’ offensive coordinator job, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Smith began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at North Carolina back in 2006. From there, he worked for the Redskins for two years before being hired as an administrative assistant/defensive intern at Ole Miss in 2010.

The Titans would hire Smith as their defensive assistant/quality control coach a year later and he worked his way to TEs coach in 2015.
