Titans Place LB Deiontrez Mount On I.R. & Promote LB Justin Staples

Update:

The Titans announced Saturday that they’ve officially placed rookie LB Deiontrez Mount on season-ending injured reserve.

Mount, 22, was taken in the sixth round of this year’s NFL draft. He has three years remaining on his four-year, $2.428 million rookie contract.

His rookie season concludes with him appearing in four games and recording an interception and a pass defense for the Titans over the course of four games.

Terry McCormick, citing sources familiar with the situation, reports that the Titans are promoting LB Justin Staples to their 53-man roster ahead of Sundays’ game against the Dolphins.

Titans HC Ken Whisenhunt mentioned that they were likely to either promote Staples or LB Jason Ankrah from their practice squad to fill LB Deiontrez Mount‘s spot on their active roster.

Staples, 25, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois back in 2013. He spent over a year in Cleveland before he was released from their practice squad at the start of the regular season.

Since then, Staples has been on and off of the Titans’ practice squad, and has yet to appear in an NFL game.
