Titans QB Marcus Mariota Dealing With Pinched Nerve In Elbow

A Titans’ source tells Adam Schefter that QB Marcus Mariotastill isn’t able to grip the ball normally.

As of Saturday night, the Titans still had not decided who would start at quarterback between Mariota and Blaine Gabbert.

According to Ian Rapoport, Mariota is dealing with a pinched nerve in his elbow and has yet to regain feeling in his fingers. Even so, the plan is for him to try to play, but it remains to be seen how he’ll respond.

Mariota, 24, is a former No. 2 overall pick of the Titans back in 2015.  He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $24.214 million rookie contract that’s fully guaranteed and is set to make a base salary of $2,636,270 to go along with another $3,736,905 next year.

The Titans picked up Mariota’s fifth-year option back in April worth $20.922 million for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Mariota has appeared in one game and completed 9 of 16 pass attempts (56.3 percent) for 103 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. He also rushed for 15 yards.

We’ll have more regarding Mariota as the news is available.
