Titans Officially Hire Jon Robinson As GM

Update:

The Tennessee Titans officially announced that the Titans have hired Buccaneers executive Jon Robinson as their new general manager.

We are thrilled that Jon has agreed in principle to become our general manager,” said Titans Controlling Owner and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors Amy Adams Strunk. “As we visited with Jon and researched his career, his proven track record for scouting talent, leadership skills, and ability to build relationships make him an ideal candidate to lead our football operation. Jon is a proud Tennessean who is excited to be coming home, and we look forward to the future of our football team under his leadership.

“I am extremely grateful to Amy for this opportunity, and I am very excited for the chance to come home to Tennessee,” said Robinson. “I had a high comfort level with Amy, Kenneth (Adams IV), Steve (Underwood), and Vin (Marino) throughout the entire process, and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and go to work.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Buccaneers director of player personnel Jon Robinson and Titans have reached an agreement in principle for him to be their next general manager.

Reports from last night mentioned that Robinson was the “front-runner” for the job and an announcement could come as soon as today, so this shouldn’t come as a major surprise.

The Titans were reportedly informing candidates last night that they weren’t getting the position, which further indicated that Robinson was all be certain to be hired.

Robinson’s first order of business will be to determine what the team does at head coach. There has been talk that Titans’ ownership would prefer to keep Mike Mularkey in place as the team’s head coach.

However, there has been talk that the Titans could target Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, seeing as Robinson has ties to New England and McDaniels.

The Titans also considered Jaguars Director of Pro Personnel Chris Polian, Chiefs personnel director Chris Ballard, Broncos GM Ted Sundquist, Giants’ college scouting director Marc Ross and former Lions GM Martin Mayhew.

We’ll have more regarding the Titans and their head-coaching search as the news is available.
