Titans Release QB Austin Davis & WR Nick Williams, Promote LB Robert Spillane

The Tennessee Titans announced Tuesday that they’ve released QB Austin Davis and WR Nick Williams and promoted LB Robert Spillane to their active roster.

  • The Titans also signed LB Nigel Harris to the practice squad and released OL Coleman Shelton from the unit.

Here’s the Titans updated practice squad:

  1. DB Josh Kalu
  2. DB Damon Webb
  3. G David Quessenberry
  4. TE Anthony Firkser
  5. WR Cameron Batson
  6. WR Chad Hansen
  7. LB LaTroy Lewis
  8. G Jamil Douglas
  9. LB Nigel Harris

Davis, 29, originally signed on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Miss back in 2012. He lasted just over a year with the Rams before signing on to the Dolphins’ practice squad at the start of the 2013 season.

After returning to the Rams for a few years, Davis bounced around with the Browns and Broncos before eventually signing on with the Seahawks in June of last year. The Seahawks brought Davis back in April before placing him on injured reserve coming out of the preseason.

Seattle released Davis from injured reserve with an injury settlement soon after and he signed on with the Titans last month.

In 2017, Davis appeared in three games for the Seahawks.

Williams, 27, originally signed on with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Connecticut back in May 2013. After two years in Washington, Williams caught on with the Falcons as a free agent in 2015 and managed to make the 53-man roster last year.

Williams has been on and off of the Falcons’ practice squad. Unfortunately, the Falcons declined to tender him a restricted offer back in March, which allowed him to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

The Titans later signed Williams to a contract this past May only to cut him loose as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players. Williams returned to Tennessee last month.

In 2018, Williams has appeared in two games for the Titans.
