Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that the Titans are planning to release veteran RB Shonn Greene.

Wyatt mentions that he’s surprised Tennessee didn’t make this move much earlier in the offseason.

Greene, 29, had one year remaining on his three-year, $10 million contract that included $4.5 million guaranteed. He would have made a base salary of $3.25 million for the 2015 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Greene will free up $3,350,000 in available cap space while creating $833,334 in dead money.

In 2014, Greene appeared in 13 games and ran for 392 yards on 94 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with on reception for 13 yards and two total touchdowns.
