Titans Rumors: Jason Jones, Jake Scott, Dave Ball

Jason Jones

John Glennon of the Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans haven’t made much of any progress towards a long-term contract with DL Jason Jones.

At this point it seems like a safe bet that Jones will be fielding offers on the open market. Jones, 25, is coming off a disappointing 2011 season but that probably had a lot to do with the fact that the team moved him to defensive end and the loss of Jim Washburn as the defensive line coach.

Defensive tackles that can provide a pass rush are always valuable assets so I’d expect a solid market for his services. We have Jones listed as the #31 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Jake Scott

Jack Scott‘s agent mentioned that the Titans would “love to have him back” next season but concedes that the market will ultimately determine his chances of returning, via the Nashville Tennessean.

This is an interesting situation because the Titans haven’t been trying to get a deal done in recent weeks but do need help at the interior offensive line positions. If things don’t work out in the free agent market or possibly even the draft, they could look to bring him back but that’s assuming that he hasn’t already found work by then.

Dave Ball

The agent for Dave Ball can’t say whether or not his client will receive an offer from the Titans before Tuesday’s deadline, via the Nashville Tennessean.

Ball has a concerning history of concussions and the team is looking to upgrade the position so it’s hard to say that he’ll be at the top of their priority list. Ball could provide some extra depth but the team will want him to accept a limited contract before they consider re-signing him.
