Titans Sign DB Tye Smith To Futures Deal

The Tennessee Titans officially signed DB Tye Smith to a future/reserve contract on Monday.

Smith becomes the 9th player to sign a futures deal with the Titans including:

  1. WR Jonathan KrauseĀ (NFLTR)
  2. OL Karim Barton
  3. LB Kourtnei Brown
  4. TE Jerome Cunningham
  5. RB David Fluellen
  6. T Tyler Marz
  7. WR K.J Maye
  8. TE Tim Semisch
  9. DB Tye Smith

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Smith, 23, is a former fifth-round pick of the Seahawks back in May of last year. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.446 million contract and set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016Ā season when the Seahawks cut him looseĀ coming out of the preseason.

Seattle later signed him to their practice squad before cutting him loose inĀ September. The Redskins later added him to their practice squad.

In 2015, Smith appeared in four games for the Seahawks and recorded one tackle and no interceptions.
