Titans Sign First-Round OT Jack Conklin To A Four-Year Deal

The Tennessee Titans announced Monday that they have agreed to terms with first-round OT Jack Conklin.

Titans GM Jon Robinson previously mentioned that they felt Conklin was a perfect fit for their offensive line.

When coach (Mike) Mularkey and I set out three months ago, we talked about building a tough, team-first, accountable football team and we were able to add a player (in Jack) to this roster that embodies everything that Tennessee Titans football is going to be about,’’ Robinson said. “He is an outstanding football player, and more importantly for us he is an outstanding young man. He is going to represent this football team, his family and the Tennessee Titans family and (make) the city of Nashville proud.

Conklin, 21, was taken with the No. 8 overall pick by the Titans after they traded back up into the top-10 to get him. There was talk that the Titans wanted to get a tackle, but it was at least somewhat surprising to see them move and pass on Larmey Tunsil. Although, teams were obviously concerned about the video of Tunsil that surfaced right before the start of round one.

According to OverTheCap.com, Conklin receives a four-year contract worth $15,897,658 to go along with a signing bonus of $9,761,932. The contract will include a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2019.

During his college career at Michigan State, Conklin made 38 starts for the Spartans with 35 of them coming at left tackle. He was a first-team All-Big Ten during his junior season.
