Titans Sign Five Tryout Players, Cut Four Including QB Tyler Ferguson

The Tennessee Titans announced that they’ve signed five tryout players to contracts on Monday including:

  1. DB Joseph Este (Tennessee-Martin)
  2. TE Anthony Firkser (Harvard)
  3. LB Robert Spillane (Western Michigan)
  4. OLB Tobenna Okeke (Fresno State)
  5. DL Connor Flagel (Central Missouri)

The Titans also cut four players including QB Tyler Ferguson, DB Ryan McKinley (Montana), DB Elijaah Goins (Ohio State) and RB Larry Rose (New Mexico State).

Ferguson, 24, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky back in April. Tennessee decided to waive him as they trimmed their roster down to the 53-man limit and signed him to their practice squad once he cleared waivers.

The Titans released him from their practice squad back in November but later signed him to a futures contract this past January.

During his three-year college career, Ferguson recorded 29 completions on 56 attempts (51.8 percent) for 389 yards and four touchdowns.

Okeke was among 21 players who tried out for the Titans during their rookie minicamp this past weekend and it looks like he managed to impress the coaching staff enough to secure an extended look.

Okeke wound up going undrafted out of Fresno State a few weeks ago before securing the tryout with the Titans.

During his college career at Fresno State, Okeke recorded 116 tackles, 19.5 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles and a pass defense over the course of four seasons and 38 games played.
