Titans Signing Veteran OLB Erik Walden

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the Titans are signing veteran OLBĀ Erik Walden to a contract on Thursday.

  • Terry McCormick confirms the news and adds that Walden receives a one-year contract from the Titans.

WaldenĀ previously visited with the Titans earlier this offseason and reportedly had some interest from the Jets as well. However, indications were that Tennessee was likely his best option once they were ready to add some help at edge rusher.

Walden, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2008. He lasted just a few months in Dallas before he was waived at the start of the 2008 season and later claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs.

Walden eventually ended up in Miami where he played two seasons before the Packers signed him to a contract in 2010. After three years in Green Bay, Walden departed for a four-year, $16,000,000 contract with the Colts.

In 2016, Walden appeared in all 16 games for the Colts and recorded 42 tackles, 11 sacks, and three forced fumbles.Ā Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 104 pass rusher out of 109 qualifying players.
