Titans To Pick Up WR Kendall Wright’s Fifth-Year Option

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that the Titans are expected to exercise WR Kendall Wright‘s fifth-year option before the May 3 deadline.

This will run the Titans $7.320 million for the 2016 season, but will not prevent them from negotiating a long-term contract that could reduce his cap figure next year. It’s worth mentioning that fifth-year options are guaranteed for injury only.

Wright, 25, is in the final year of his four-year, $8.218 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $884,000 for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Wright appeared in 14 games and caught 57 passes for 715 yard receiving to go along with six touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 62 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.
