Titans Trying To Sign Both OLB Brian Orakpo & OLB Derrick Morgan

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that the Titans are trying to sign both OLB Brian Orakpo and OLB Derrick Morgan.

  • Wyatt adds that the his is the best-case scenario for the Titans, but they are in play on both players.
  • Vaughn McClure reports that Morgan is not signing with the Buccaneers, despite meeting with them on Thursday.
  • The Cardinals are reportedly interest in Orakpo as well.

Morgan, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Titans. He played out his five-year, $15,395,010 rookie contract that included $10.6 million guaranteed and is now prepared to test the open market in the next few months.

In 2014, Morgan recorded 63 tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and seven pass defenses for the Titans over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 8 outside linebacker in a 3-4 system out of 46 qualifying players this past season.

Orakpo, 28, played out the 2014 season under the team’s franchise tag and is once again in line to be an unrestricted free agent. Last year, he made a salary of  $11.455 million.

In 2014, Orakpo recorded 24 tackles, a half sack and a pass defense over the course of seven games.
