Todd Archer of ESPN confirmed that Cowboys OL coach Frank Pollack will not be back with the team in 2018.
According to Archer, former Seahawks OL coach Tom Cable is a candidate to replace Pollack. Archer notes that Cable was actually a college teammate of Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.
It’s worth mentioning that Dallas is scheduled to interview Bengals OL coach Paul Alexander for the job and assistant OL coach Marc Colombo should also be in the mix for the job.
The Seahawks officially fired Cable on Wednesday, as they begin to overhaul their coaching staff.
Cable actually came up as a potential candidate for the Colts’ job, but there hasn’t been any buzz about this being a possibility since then.
Cable, 53, began his NFL coaching career with the Falcons back in 2006 as an offensive line coach. He departed after one season in Atlanta to become the Raiders offensive line coach before he was promoted to head coach in 2008.
Cable was fired after three seasons before agreeing to join the Seahawks as their assistant head coach/offensive line coach.
During his three years as the Raiders’ head coach, Cable led them to a record of 17-27 (38.6) and no playoff appearances.
