Tom Coughlin Will Return In 2014

There was some speculation that Giants HC Tom Coughlin could be replaced this offseason following another disappointing year.

However, GM Jerry Reese told reporters on Monday that he “absolutely” wants Coughlin back next season, per Ralph Vacchiano.

“I expressed to Tom we do want him back,” said Giants owner John Mara, per Ralph Vacchiano. “I do have confidence in him.”

Coughlin added that he wants to continue coaching the Giants next season.

“I do want to coach,” Coughlin said, via Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger. “…I’m a young guy in this business. Everyone asks me what’s next, I hope it’s the coach of the New York Giants.”

Winning two Super Bowl titles affords a coach a good deal of job security. He has also led the Giants to five playoff appearances and an overall record of 90-70 in his ten years as head coach.
