Tony Gonzalez 95% Certain He’ll Retire After The Season

Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez maintains that there is a 95 percent chance he will call it a career following the season.

“There is no doubt I could keep playing for a couple more years at a pretty high level,” said Gonzalez, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “but it’s just almost that time for me.”

This has been Gonzalez’s position for some time now. Despite being 36-years-old, he’s still clearly one of the best tight ends in the game.

“I keep telling everybody the number I’m giving on it is 95 percent sure,” said Gonzalez.

He has made similar comments in the past and still returned, but he’s clearly comfortable moving on. Gonzalez will be a free agent at the end of the season, so I’m sure that too will weigh into his decision to some degree. We have him listed as the No. 43 best available player, only because of his age, in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
