Tony Gonzalez Plans To Retire After The 2012 Season

Tony Gonzalez mentioned that he plans to call it a career after the 2012 season.

I said that last year though, and the year before,” said Gonzalez, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “But I really do believe this is it. First of all, this is the first time my wife came to me and said, ‘You’re only going to play one more year, right?”

The Falcons have Gonzalez signed through the 2012 season after giving him a one-year deal worth $6.9 million last month. There’s no question that he’ll end up in the Hall of Fame as soon as he’s done playing.

Reports have suggested that the Falcons will be looking at the available tight ends in this year’s draft with the hopes of finding Gonzalez’s future replacement.
