Torrey Smith Would Like To Re-Sign With Ravens Before Free Agency

Impending free agent WR Torrey Smith mentioned on Sunday that he would like to re-sign with the Ravens before the start of free agency.

If I had my way, obviously I’d like to get something done beforehand so I can stay here,” Smith said. “But I understand this is a business and nothing is guaranteed. I’ll let everything play out.

Smith is from Maryland and even attended the University of Maryland, so it’s really not all that surprising to hear that he preference would be to remain in Baltimore.

“For me, it’s more like home now,” Smith said. “It’s tough to leave home at times. Also, it’s a great organization. I genuinely love the people here. … I really love being here.

Smith, 25, is finishing up his four-year, $3,389,232 million rookie contract with the Ravens. He will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months and is one of the most notable receivers in this year’s free agent class.

Over the course of 16 games, Smith caught 49 passes for 767 yards and a career best 11 touchdowns. His yardage totals are done from last year when posted 65 receptions for 1,128 yards receiving.

Pro Football Focus has Smith rated as the No. 37 receiver out of 110 qualifying players.

For what it’s worth, we Smith listed as the No. 37 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
