Trade Details For 49ers’ Move To Select Utah RB Joe Williams

The San Francisco 49ers traded up with the Colts in round four of the draft to select RB Joe Williams with the No. 121 overall pick.

49ers receive:

  • 2017 fourth-round pick (No. 122): RB Joe Williams

Colts receive:

  • 2017 fourth-round pick (No. 143)
  • 2018 fifth-round pick (No. 161)

Williams began his college career with Connecticut but was kicked off the team for using an illegal credit card. He played one season at Asa Brooks College in New York and enrolled to play at Utah in 2015. He contemplated quitting the team but returned five weeks later to average 156.3 rushing yards per game, which is a school record.

During his two years at Utah, Williams recorded 314 attempts for 1,884 rushing yards (6.0 YPC) for 13 rushing touchdowns. He also accumulated 20 receptions for 191 yards receiving. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 20 running back prospect and No. 242 overall.
