Trade Details For Texans’ Move Up For QB Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans traded up for the No. 12 overall pick from the Browns to select Clemson QB Deshaun Watson

Texans receive:

  • 2017 first-round pick (No. 12): Deshaun Watson

Browns receive:

  • 2017 first-round pick (No. 25): Jabril Peppers
  • 2018 first-round pick

Quarterbacks started coming off of the board sooner than many anticipated after the Bears and Chiefs both traded up get Mitch Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes, so the Texans were faced with a situation where they had to either get up in front of the Cardinals or risk not getting one of the top quarterbacks this year.

Texans HC Bill O’Brien has said that Tom Savage will be the team’s starting quarterback this summer, but you have to think they would try to Watson if he struggles.

During his three-year college career at Clemson, Watson recorded 814 completions on 1,207 attempts (67.4 percent) for 10,168 passing yards, 90 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions.
