TRADE: Lions Trading OL Laken Tomlinson To 49ers For 2019 5th-Rd Pick

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media is reporting that the Lions are trading OL Laken Tomlinson to the 49ers on Thursday.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, the Lions receive a 2019 fifth-round pick from the 49ers for Tomlinson.

Tomlinson, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Lions back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $8.55 million contract that included $6.949 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $1,212,296 and $1,600,944 over the next two years of the agreement.

The 49ers will have to decide whether to pick up Tomlinson’s fifth-year option next year.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading Tomlinson will free up $92,706 of available cap space while creating $2,239,180 in dead money.

In 2016, Tomlinson appeared in all 16 games for the Lions and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 65 guard out of 75 qualifying players.
