Trade Rumors: Buccaneers, Jets, Redskins, Titans, Vikings

Jason La Canfora offers up some suggestions for teams that he believes should be sellers at this year’s trade deadline. Here’s a look at the trades he thinks would make sense.

Buccaneers

  • Vincent Jackson has been the most popular name being discussed in recent weeks. La Canfora believes the Bucs may as well save the $10 million and move him, even if they can’t acquire the second-round pick they are reportedly asking for.
  • La Canfora suggests Browns as a team in need of receiver that could have interest in Jackson.
  • As for RB Doug Martin, who is reportedly also available, La Canfora mentions that the Chargers and Patriots as two landing spots that would make sense.
  • La Canfora doesn’t see anyone taking on S Dashon Goldson at his current price.
  • This seems unlikely, but La Canfora also suggests the Bucs call the Bears about QB Josh McCown to see if they have interest in taking him on.

Jets

  • La Canfora believes the Jets should consider trading veteran LB David Harris and mentions that teams like the 49ers, Cardinals and Chargers could both have interest in him due to their limited depth.
  • One other player that could be available for trade is LB Antwan Barnes, according to La Canfora.

Redskins

  • According to La Canfora, Redskins owner Dan Snyder is reportedly not in sellers mode right now and it’s unlikely that they will trade some of  their veteran players next week.
  • However, La Canfora mentions that he would offer up WR Pierre Garcon to the Browns, Seahawks, and/or 49ers to see if they’re interested in taking on his contract.
  • La Canfora adds that a team in need of a slot receiver could be willing to part with a sixth-round pick for veteran WR Santana Moss.

Titans

  • La Canfora admits that the Titans are unlikely to find any takers for G Andy Levitre, but he believes it wouldn’t hurt for them reach out the 49ers to see if they happen to have interest.
  • La Canfora wonders if the Ravens could have interest in possibly taking on former first-round pick QB Jake Locker as a backup.
  • Two other players that could be available include WR Nate Washington and LB Kamerion Wimbley.

Vikings

  • La Canfora writes that WR Greg Jennings is unlikely to make his $9 million annual salary moving forward. With this in mind, La Canfora believes there is a chance that someone could trade for him this year given that he’s owed just $4.9 million for the remainder of the season.

La Canfora’s article offers more detail regarding these ideas, so I recommend you take the time to check it and gain a better understanding of his thinking.

  1. Vjack to Cleveland makes sense. But D Harris to SF doesn’t. We have good depth at ILB. David Harris to Ariz makes perfect sense. Garcon to the Browns and Seahawks make sense. Especially Seahawks who haven’t had a reliable possession guy to fill the void left by Golden Tate. But getting him in when SF already has Boldin, Crabtree, who are the same kind of receiver makes no sense. However, SF getting VJack makes perfect sense since they don’t have a tall reliable receiver to help Kaep out on Jump ball situations.
