According to Vikings general manager Rick Spielman, trade talks for the #3 overall pick has been “heating up” as the draft nears.
“We’re going to be very open to the trade scenario,” Spielman said, per Adam Schefter. “Just to give you an update, that front has really heated up over the last 24 hours and I’m sure it’ll continue to heat up as we head into Thursday night.”
There’s no question that Spielman and the Vikings would love to move down a few picks, while securing some extra draft picks, but interest has been reportedly limited in recent weeks. Spielman has said that they’re targeting one of OT Matt Kalil, CB Morris Claiborne, and WR Justin Blackmon, so in order to get one of them, they could only trade down a few positions.
If a deal gets done, there will no doubt be immediate ramifications within the top 10, especially if someone outside of the top 5 makes the move up.
