Chargers Not Open To Bringing Back OT Jared Gaither Next Season?

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune writes that LT Jared Gaither‘s chances of return for another season with the San Diego Chargers are slim at best.

According to Acee; “Jared Gaither will not be back. He can’t be.” Acee adds that “virtually everyone in the organization” believes Gaither “pretend he was more hurt than he was.”

I can’t even look him in the eye,” and “—-ing Gaither. He —-ing cost us big-time.” were responses given to Acee by two veteran players this season.

Many in the locker room gave Gaither the benefit of the doubt while he was dealing with his “injuries,” but by the end of the season everyone was apparently questioning his commitment to the team.

The Chargers wound up placing Gaither on season-ending injured reserve. San Diego would take a $6 million cap hit by releasing Gaither; however the feeling is that this would be a better move than to risk owing him $4.5 million if he’s on the roster at the start of the next season.

  1. They can get some of that back by cutting Jeromey Clary and Larry English! Both of those guys are a waste of a roster spot and are paid way too much for their talent level. Clary makes $4,550,000.00, English makes $2,172,500.00. One of them can’t stay healthy and the other is a huge liability by protecting Rivers and risking him getting hurt every play Clary is on the field. They both should be cut or paid the league minumum. Donald Butler should be making all of there money and they can share what he makes now.
