Update Regarding Dolphins Starting QB Situation

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes that first-round pick Ryan Tannehill’s struggles can be attributed to the fact that he’s been struggling with the speed of the NFL game thus far.

Jackson adds that those within the Dolphins organization seem to think it’s going to be a two-man competition between David Garrard and Matt Moore for the starting job.

While it’s still early in the process, Garrard seems to be leader as of now, but that can quickly change during training camp. Moore was great for the Dolphins last season, so it seemed as though he would be the favorite, but Garrard has turned some heads since signing with the Dolphins.

Tannehill has shown some poor timing on his passes and has taken a number of “would-be” sacks during offseason workouts to this point. It seems like a safe bet that the Dolphins won’t rush him this season, which could end up being a positive thing for his long-term development.
