VCU’s Mo Alie-Cox Not Eligible For 2017 Draft, Free To Sign With Teams Right Now

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that VCU basketball player Mo Alie-Cox, who is making the transition to football as a tight end, is actually not draft eligible this year.

Rapoport confirmed with an NFL spokesman that Alie-Cox was eligible for the 2016 draft and is currently available to sign as a free agent.

Alie-Cox worked out for NFL teams on Tuesday and there were 20 teams on hand for the session, according to Alie-Cox’s agent, Joe Flanagan.

“The interest is widespread,” Flanagan said. “Twenty clubs are already confirmed to be sending reps, with multiple tight end coaches.

During his four-year career at VCU, Alie-Cox totaled 1,092 points, 633 rebounds, 112 assists, 88 steals and 255 blocks over the course of 142 games.
