Veteran CB Charles Tillman Only Interested In Playing For Panthers

Veteran CB Charles Tillman said Saturday at Matt Forte‘sĀ annual football camp that the only team he wants to play for in 2016 is the Panthers.

“I just want to play for Carolina,” Tillman said, via the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

“Being in Carolina felt like I had been there my entire career,” Tillman added. “The team, the community, the atmosphere, that vibe. The Carolinas — North Carolina and South Carolina — they showed a lot of love.

That’s the only team I really want to play for,” Tillman continued. “It’s Carolina. It’s a great group of men. … A great group of coaches. The front-office guys are great. To me it was no surprise they were, or we were, 17-2.”

Last year, Tillman suffered aĀ season-endingĀ ACL tear towards the end of the season.

He’s still working his way back figures he’ll need “probably another two months” before he’s ready join a team at the end of training camp.

Tillman, 35, is a former second-round pick of the Bears back in 2003. He spent 12 years in Chicago before signing aĀ  one-year, $1.75 million contractĀ that included $350,000 guaranteed with the Panthers back in April of last year.

In 2015, TillmanĀ appeared in 12 games and recordingĀ 55 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a recovery and seven pass defenses.Ā Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 63 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
