Veteran CB Drayton Florence Retiring From NFL

Josina Anderson spoke to free agent CB Drayton Florence who told her that he’s planning to announce his retirement from the NFL on May 1.

  • Florence added that he’s graduating from the University of North Florida on the same day.

Florence, 34, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2003. He has played for a number of teams over the course of his career including the Jaguars, Bills, Broncos, Lions, and Panthers.

Last year, Florence signed a one-year deal with the Lions in August, but only lasted a few weeks with the team before he was cut loose. Since then, there has been no reported interest in him.

Over the course of his 11-year career, Florence recorded 414 total tackles, 20 interceptions, 104 pass defenses, two forced fumbles, six recoveries and four defensive touchdowns.
