Veteran DE Darryl Tapp Hoping To Play For Two More Years, Could Re-Sign With Saints

Saints impending free agent DE Darryl Tapp said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that he hopes to continue his career for two more years and would like to play for a Super Bowl contender, per Alex Marvez.

According to Tapp, there is still a chance that he could re-sign with the Saints at some point this offseason.

Tapp, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2006. After four years with the Seahawks, Tapp signed a three-year contract with the Eagles as a free agent in 2010.

Tapp played a year for the Redskins before signing on with the Lions in March of 2014. Detroit later brought him back on a one-year deal.

The Saints signed him to a contract back in July, but cut him loose shortly afterward. New Orleans then signed him once again back in September to a one-year, $985,000 deal.

In 2016, Tapp appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and recorded 17 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 43 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.
