Veteran DL Corey Wootton Retiring From NFL

Free agent DL Corey Wootton announced via his Twitter account Tuesday that he’s retiring from the NFL.

Wootton, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bears back in 2010. He wound up playing out his rookie contract with the team before signing a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Vikings in March of 2014.

Last year, the Lions signed him to a one-year contract, but Wootton unfortunately suffered a torn pectoral muscle that ended his 2015 season.

In total, Wootton recorded 65 tackles, 12 sacks, three forced fumbles, two recoveries and seven pass defenses for the Bears and Vikings over the course of 60 games.
