Veteran DT Vince Wilfork Retiring From NFL

Former Patriots and Texans DT Vince Wilfork announced Monday that he’s retiring from the NFL.

A few months ago, Wilfork said he was still a “50-50″ on whether he would return for the 2017 season. However, it sounds like he’s ready to move on.

Wilfork, 35, is a former first-round pick of the Patriots back in 2004. After 11 years in New England, Wilfork signed on with the Texans in 2015. He played out the final year of his two-year, $9 million contract and would be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

In 2016, Wilfork appeared in 15 games for the Texans and recorded 21 tackles, no sacks and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 98 interior defensive lineman out of 123 qualifying players.
