Veteran OT King Dunlap Retiring From NFL

Free agent OT King Dunlap is retiring from the NFL after nine seasons in the league, according to his agency.

Ian Rapoport reports that Dunlap had opportunities with NFL teams, but he has made the decision to call it a career.

Dunlap was one of the best offensive tackle options still available in the free agent market along with Ryan Clady and had been mentioned as a potential option for the Ravens.

King, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2008. He spent four years in Philadelphia before signing on with the Chargers in 2013.

Dunlap was in the third year of his four-year, $28 million contract that included $13 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $5.75 million for the 2017 season when the Chargers released him in a move that freed up $4,875,000 of available cap space this past March.

In 2016, Dunlap appeared in 12 games for the Chargers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 53 offensive tackle out of 78 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
