Veteran RB Chris Ogbonnaya Announces Retirement From NFL

Veteran RB Chris Ogbonnaya announced via his Instagram account Friday that he has decided to retire from the NFL.

From no football, to Strake Jesuit, to Texas, and then to the NFL, it has been a pleasantly surprising ride. It is with great thankfulness to God and appreciation of my family, coaches, and fans that I announce my retirement from football. It has been an absolute privilege to play this game that I love, and I look forward to my continued involvement in the future.

Ogbonnaya, 29, is a former seventh round pick of the Rams back in 2009. He played for a number of teams during his six-year NFL career including the Texans, Browns, Panthers and Giants.

Back in March, Ogbonnaya re-signed with the Giants, but he was unfortunately released a little over a month ago.

For his career, Ogbonnaya total 710 rushing yards on 158 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 96 receptions for 714 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
