Veteran RB Justin Forsett Announces Retirement From NFL

Veteran RB Justin Forsett announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.

It’s time. I’m officially announcing my retirement from the game I love. It’s been an amazing ride and I’m grateful for every moment. My career has brought so many great people into my life, and I asked some of them to join me in saying goodbye.

Against all odds, critics, and naysayers, I accomplished something great. Scouts measured my height and said I was too short. They measured my 40-yard dash and said I was too slow. They looked at my build and said I wouldn’t last. But they couldn’t measure my heart, my faith, and my perseverance.

I am living proof that dreams come true and God answers prayers, and I thank God everyday for the opportunity to live out my dream.

Back in January, Forsett told James Palmer that he was going into the offseason with the intention of evaluating his future and weighing the possibility of retiring from the NFL, so this doesn’t come as a complete surprise.

Forsett, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2008. He spent four years in Seattle before he signed on with the Texans in 2012.

After a year with the Jaguars, the Ravens signed him to a contract in 2015 and managed to put together a breakout season that led to him signing a two-year, $6 million contract.

Forsett was, unfortunately, released by the Ravens in October of last year and bounced around with the Lions and Broncos to finish out the season.

For his career, Forsett rushed for 3,890 yards on 820 carries (4.7 YPC) to go along with 210 receptions for 1,351 yards receiving and 20 total touchdowns.
