Veteran WR Michael Floyd Says He’d Like To Re-Sign With Vikings

Vikings WR Michael Floyd says he loves being in Minnesota and would like to re-sign with the team next year.

“I would like to stay here, for sure,” Floyd said, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. “I love this place.”

Floyd has had a limited role since the Vikings signed him to a contract this summer. In fact, Floyd has played just 16 percent of the team’s total snaps this year.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer explained that their depth at receiver has really impacted the playing time for Floyd and others.

“It’s kind of crowded there at receiver a little bit,” Zimmer said. “We’re trying to get Jarius (Wright) involved a little bit more and trying to make sure (Laquon) Treadwell’s still involved and getting (Floyd) involved. It’s hard to get five receivers a lot of reps.

Floyd, 28, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2012. He played his four-year, $9.972 million contract before the Cardinals elected to pick up his fifth-year option in 2015.

After he was arrested for DUI last year, Arizona elected to cut him loose and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Patriots. The Vikings signed him to a one-year, $1.41 million contract this summer.

In 2017, Floyd has appeared in eight games for the Vikings and caught nine passes for 78 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
