Veteran WR Roddy White Reportedly On Titans & Buccaneers’ Radar

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reports that free agent WR Roddy White is drawing interest from NFL teams including the Titans and Buccaneers.

However, Florio says that White won’t accept a minimum-salary offer, which explains why he’s still available at this point in the NFL offseason.

As for the Titans’ interest, Florio mentions that White is likely only a contingency option if it doesn’t work out with Andre Johnson, who signed this week.

Johnson’s contract with Tennessee isn’t guaranteed and they’ve made it clear that he’ll have to compete for a job this summer.

There’s an obvious connection between the Bucs and White, considering that HC Dirk Koetter was previously the Falcons offensive coordinator and has worked with White.

White previously mentioned in an interview with 92.9 The Game that he still wants to play in 2016, especially if an opportunity to join a contending team arises.

Yeah, yeah, yeah… I still wanna play,” White said, via CBS Atlanta.“ I’ve been going through my opportunities and the things me and my agent been going over, you know, and just fielding phone calls and seeing what I wanna do, what I don’t wanna do at this point in my career. I just wanna win. I wanna play for a winner, so, you know, if it comes down to it and I have to wait… to get on a team that’s winning, then I’ll do that.”

White, 34, was entering the third year of his four-year, $30 million contract when the Falcons released him in a move that freed up $2,362,500 in cap space.

In 2015, White appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and caught 43 passes for 506 yards receiving and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 105 receiver out of 119 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
