Vick’s Deal Really Five Years $80 Million?

Pro Football Talks Mike Florio deserves credit for his scepticism about the specifics of Michael Vick‘s six-year, $100 million contact that was reported last night.

Florio was able to get the actual contract numbers which shows that the deal is essentially for five-years and $80 million as the sixth-year of the deal voids he Vick takes 35% of the teams snaps at any point in the next five-years. Barring an injury, Vick should easily surpass that number in 2011.

The deal includes $32.5 million in fully guaranteed money but only includes $3 million is guaranteed for an injury.

Another good point raised by Florio is that Vick was set to make over $16 million for the upcoming season so if he was able to perform well enough to force the Eagles to franchise him again in 2012, he would have made more guaranteed money than he’s currently making in this deal.

far incentives are concerned, Vick could make $3 million if he plays 77.5% of the teams snaps and leads them to a Super Bowl win in either 2011 or 2012.

Let’s be honest, it’s still a huge deal for Vick but it’s not exactly the deal that was reported yesterday.
