Vikings Are “Quietly Thrilled” With WR Jerome Simpson

Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 Twin Cities writes that the Vikings are “quietly thrilled” about WR Jerome Simpson being part of their offense at a “clearance price.”

He’s a legitimate split end,” said offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. “He has speed to threaten down the field and also get in and out of breaks and beat man coverage.”

Simpson comes with some notable red flags, as he was arrested for a felony drug charge to which he plead guilty. Pro Football Focus rated him as the #112 wide receiver out of #115, so there’s no guarantee that he’s going to end up performing at the level that the Vikings are hoping that he will.
