Vikings Asst. GM George Paton Declined To Interview For Chiefs’ GM Job

Ian Rapoport reports that Vikings assistant GM George Paton declined to interview for the Chiefs’ vacant GM position.

  • Rapoport adds that Chiefs owner Clark Hunt is expected to interview top in-house candidate Brett Veach, co-director of player personnel.

Paton’s name has come up in regards to several GM jobs over the past few years, but he continues to decline opportunities to stay in Minnesota.

The Chiefs are expected to move quickly to line up interviews with potential candidates for the job, so you can expect to hear more names connected to the position in the coming days.

Over the weekend, a report mentioned that the Chiefs were interested in ESPN’s Louis Riddick. However, he quickly shot that done.

The Chiefs do have some internal candidates for the job that are also worth watching in Mike Borgonzi and Veach. In fact, some believe these two candidates are the most likely options to replace GM John Dorsey, who was surprisingly fired last week.

We’ll have more regarding the Chiefs’ GM search as the news is available.
