Vikings CB Terence Newman Planning To Return For 2018 Season

Vikings CB Terence Newman mentioned during an interview with KFAN on Thursday that he intends to play next season and make another run at a Super Bowl, per Sam Ekstrom.

It’s incredible that Newman has been able to play this long in the NFL and is still a serviceable player, considering his age and the physical requirements that come with playing cornerback.

We’ll have to see if the Vikings are interested in bringing back for another season or if they’ll allow him to see what else is out there in free agency.

Newman, 39, is a former first-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2003. He spent nine years in Dallas before joining the Bengals in 2012.

Newman has spent the past three years with the Vikings and just played out his one-year, $3.25 million contract with the team and is once again in position to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months.

In 2016, Newman appeared in 16 games for the Vikings and recorded 35 tackles, one interception, and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 66 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
