Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman told reporters on Thursday that they intend to spend a good amount of time on Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o.
“He’s an extremely talented football player,” said Spielman, via Dan Kadar.
The Vikings currently hold the 23rd overall pick and there’s a reasonable enough chance that Te’o could be available to them at that point in the first-round. It’s hard to say that inside linebacker is among their top needs, but Minnesota could elect to go with the best player available given that many draft experts believe that there will be a lot of quality player still on the board towards the backend of the first-round.
Spielman added that there are some quality defensive linemen in this draft, so there’s a good chance that they could consider one of them as well.
We have the Vikings taking Ohio State DT Jonathan Hankins in the first-round of our 2013 NFL Mock Draft.
